Newsletter No. 3. Term 3                                                        4th September 2020

Greetings families,

We have emerged again from level 3 lockdown.  We know this is a really difficult time for most of us as we navigate our way through the Covid challenges.  Family members lose work opportunities etc.  Please remember, we are your community school.  If your family is in a difficult situation, please don’t be nervous about getting in touch with us.  Through our networking, we will be able to help you in some way.

During this lockdown, we had a few of the essential worker’s children at school.

The teacher team of Mrs Riggs, Mrs Carr-Neil, Mrs Nxumalo,  Mrs Way and Mr Murray, worked on the scholar packs as well as supervising the children.  The Board of Trustees thanks them for their service.

School thanks you, the community, for the kind messages of support.

Level 2.5 has children back at school.  It’s really important that they are back into school routine, unless they are sick.

Lessons are not being delivered in the normal way.  Children cannot gather around to help others, watch a screen, or work on projects of learning together how they are used to doing.  All is well though and just being back among classmates and friends sees their confidence grow and they quickly adapt to the Covid level 2.5 rules.

Getting back into the self-discipline as a learner takes time for everyone.  Being surrounded (correct distancing) by other learners is a major factor to help the process.

Please contact school if you feel you need to keep your children at home.

PHOTO DAY – we have rescheduled this for Monday September 14th.

Covid causes some cancellations or postponements

Book week and the book parade.  Sadly Miss Sim and I have had to postpone this event.

The Scholastic Books’ book week and parade will not be held this year.

Puberty talks and the Keeping Ourselves Safe lessons have had to be postponed.

There will be no Kapa Haka lessons this term.

For our planning,  could you let us know of any new entrant children who are likely to come to school next year.
